Request a Free Bike
Cycle without stigma. We refurbish donated bikes and give them, free, to people in Glasgow who need transport and cannot afford it.
Nobody should have to choose between a meal and the bus fare. That is the whole reason this programme exists.
Who can apply
Two things decide it, and we would rather be straight with you about both than have you wait on an application that was never going to work.
- Your postcode starts with G. We are a small Glasgow organisation and we can only place bikes where we can support them afterwards
- There is no means test, no benefits check and no age limit. You do not need to prove anything to us beyond telling us your situation
A referral from an organisation, charity or support service gives your application priority. It is not a requirement, and you can apply for yourself, but if you are already working with a service it is worth asking them to refer you.
What to expect
It will be a standard bike, not an electric one
Every application is treated as a request for a standard, non-electric bike. That is how we reach the most people with what gets donated. If an e-bike would make a real difference to your situation, say so in your application and we will consider it.
There is a waiting list, and it is long
We cannot tell you when a bike will be ready, because it depends on what gets donated and what funding we hold. We will not pretend otherwise, and we will not go quiet on you.
Every bike is checked before it goes out
Our mechanics strip, test and rebuild each one, with a full safety inspection before it leaves the workshop. A free bike is not a lesser bike.
We contact you and your referrer
When a bike becomes available we get in touch with both the applicant and the organisation that referred them, so nothing falls between the two.
Application received
Thank you. You are on the waiting list. We will contact you, and your referrer if you have one, as soon as a bike is available.
Apply for a bike
If you are applying for yourself, skip straight to part two.

Are you an organisation?
If you support people who need transport and you would like to refer them to us, get in touch. We would rather build a relationship with a service than handle one application at a time, and referred applicants are prioritised.
Message received
Thank you. We will be in touch soon to talk about working together.
Where the bikes come from
Every bike given away here was donated by somebody in Glasgow, or funded by a bike sold in our shop. If you have an e-bike sitting unused, that is where this starts.
