Our Community Work

We do more than fix bikes.

From cycling programmes in Glasgow prisons to free bikes for people in need — this is what Ebike Freedom is really about.

Every bike we fix pays for this

Ebike Freedom is a Community Interest Company. Our assets and profits are legally locked into the community — they cannot be taken out. The repair workshop and the shop fund the programmes on this page, which means a service booking or a bike bought from us is not a transaction. It is the funding.

Why it matters

Transport is access

A bike is a job interview you can get to, a shift you can take, a school run that does not depend on a bus fare.

Repair over landfill

Every e-bike we bring back to life is one that does not become waste, and one more affordable bike on the road.

Nobody gets turned away

We work on bikes other shops refuse, for people other shops refuse. That is the whole point.

No one gets left behind.
No one...

How you can help

We are run by a small team, a lot of volunteers and limited funding. Every one of these makes a direct difference.

Donate an e-bike

That e-bike rusting in your close or shed is somebody's way to work. We collect across the UK, and we will fix whatever state it is in.

Donate an e-bike →

Volunteer

Mechanics, ride leaders, and people who are simply good with people. No cycling experience needed for most of it.

Fund a programme

Funders and trusts: we can show you exactly what a bike, a course place or a session costs, and what it produces.

Join the board

We are recruiting volunteer non-executive directors. Two or three meetings a year, and real influence over the work.
