Volunteer with us

You do not need to be a mechanic, and you do not need to be a cyclist. You need to be reliable and reasonably good with people. We can teach the rest.

Where people usually start

In the workshop

Stripping donated bikes, cleaning, sorting parts, learning to fix as you go. The most common way in, and the one that teaches you most.

On the rides

Supporting our led rides when they are running. Riding at the back, keeping the group together, making sure nobody feels like a nuisance.

At events

Dr. Bike sessions at workplaces, schools and community events. Talking to people, holding a pump, booking bikes in.

Behind the scenes

Admin, funding applications, photography, social media, translation. Unglamorous and genuinely needed.

What you get back

Training, and a real qualification if you want one — we run a cycle trainer course, and volunteers get first refusal on places. A reference that means something. And a Saturday morning in a workshop where people are pleased to see you.

How much time?

As much or as little as you can commit to reliably. A morning a week suits most people. We would rather have two hours you actually turn up for than a day you cancel.

If your circumstances are complicated (shift work, caring, health, or have a record), say so and we will work around it. Several of our volunteers came to us through the programmes on our community pages.
