Our impact

A Community Interest Company with an asset lock: our profits are legally bound to the community and cannot be taken out. Here is what that buys.

Where the money comes from

Not from donations alone. We are a trading organisation: the repair workshop, the shop and our part-exchange programme generate income, and that income funds the free bikes, the loans and the work in the justice system.

It means a service booking is a form of support. It also means we are not wholly dependent on grant cycles, which is the difference between planning a programme and hoping for one.

The Ebike Freedom repair workshop, which funds the community programmes

What we do with it

Bikes rescued from landfill

Donated bikes stripped, tested, rebuilt and put back on the road — given free to people who need one, or sold refurbished to fund the ones we give away.

Free bikes and loans

For people with justice experience, and through the Freedom Bike Library and Sister Spokes.

People trained

Bike mechanics inside Glasgow prisons, maintenance classes, and cycle leader training that leaves a qualification behind.

Bikes that fit the rider

Trikes, step-through frames and one-off adaptive builds for people standard bikes were never designed for.

For funders

We can tell you what a bike costs us to rescue, what a course place costs to run, and what happens to the people who take one. If you are considering funding a programme, ask and we will show you the working.
